SYNOPSIS
I’ve found it’s easier to share my body but not my soul. I need no one, yet I crave her.

Self-assured and independent, she doesn’t need me—but she wants me, and undeniably I want her too. At war with myself as I battle the secrets of my past, I don’t know if I can allow her to see the darkest parts of me, the parts I’ve left untouched—undone.

As she chips away at the walls I’ve built for years, I fear those secrets will hold me hostage from love—forever.

EXCERPT

“I’m going to ask you again, can I have your number, Reagan?”
She swallows hard and I notice her eyes shift from my eyes to my lips several times. She shakes her head slowly, and retreats back by a small step.
“Why?” I whisper.
“I don’t give my number out at work,” she stutters.
“You’re not working right now,” I point out, taking a step forward and closing the distance between us once again.
“I’m still at work.” She smiles.
“Technicalities.”
She laughs lightly at my response. Her eyes drop and she kicks at the loose gravel on the blacktop. “Look, I’m just really private. I don’t just hand my number out to people I don’t know, okay?”
“Then go out with me. Get to know me. You can give me your number after you’re comfortable with me,” I compromise.  Letting out a deep sigh, she looks back at me. “You don’t take no for an answer, do you?”
“Nope.”
“I don’t have a lot of free time—I work really odd hours, and help out here,” she motions towards Mac’s with her arm, “when I can.”
“Tomorrow morning, then. Meet me for breakfast at the Beachside Café on Franklin at eleven.”
She thinks about it while working her bottom lip between her teeth. I see her trying to fight the small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth when she finally agrees.
“Fine. I’ll meet you for breakfast at eleven at the Beachside Café.”
“It’s a date,” I say, backing away from her slowly.
“It’s breakfast,” she corrects me.
“It’s a date over breakfast.”
“Technicalities,” she says, smirking and shaking her head as she walks backward towards her car.

STEPH'S REVIEW
4.5 STARS!!!
“You’ve met your match, Champ, because I don’t play by the rules either.”
We met and fell in love with Landon in Unbreakable, the first book in the Unbreakable series. He was there for Jess during a very dark period and when the time came he let her go knowing he couldn’t give her the HEA she truly deserved. Both books in this series are standalones AND I highly recommend reading BOTH!

Landon is the good cop by day and bad boy by night!  He is dark, brooding and all wrapped up in this yummy inked package.  After his mother abandoned him and his sister, Landon had a terribly abusive adolescents at the hands of his father. This left Landon determined to stand on his own feet and never let anyone to close with the exception of his sister and partner on the force.

Reagan is the accomplished professional who is looking to put down roots and enjoy her new beachfront town. She is happy with her life and enjoying her time near her ailing Uncle. Reagan is a really likable character, she is strong, determined and takes nothing off noone.
"Something in the pit of my stomach is telling me this girl is dangerous - she's beautiful, confident, and smart - a dangerous combination."
Reagan has no desire to be a onenight stand for Landon or any man for that matter. She is attracted to Landon but quickly puts Landon in his place and shoots down his flirtatious ways.
“Relationships are too difficult for you to manage, so you fuck who you want when you want, and since there’s no commitment, it doesn’t complicate thing, am I right?”
Despite her better judgment Reagan finds herself accepting Landon’s invites for casual get togethers. This begins the emotional tug-of-war for these characters. Can Reagan puts Landon’s dark demons to rest so they can build a relationship and future they both deserve?
“You may never love me the way I need to be loved - but don’t deny yourself the opportunity. Let me love you. You deserve that.”
Landon and Reagan will leave a permanent mark on your heart. We all want to believe there is one person out there who is meant to be our soulmate. For Landon and Reagan their love is more than a connection, it also soothes the demons from their past.
“I done running from you because I should have been running to you the entire time. You are where I need to be. You are my safe place and the only person who has ever loved me unconditionally.”
