Today we are featuring Prescott Lane on our Rude Girl’s Couch Confessions segment.  Prescott recently released her third novel, Quiet Angel.  Prescott provides a brief bio during her blog tours, so I thought now was the time to get to know her a little better!

AUTHOR BIO

Prescott Lane is the author of First Position, Perfectly Broken, and her new release, Quiet Angel. She is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, and graduated from Centenary College with a degree in sociology. She went on to receive her MSW from Tulane University, after which she worked with developmentally delayed and disabled children. She married her college sweetheart, and they currently live in New Orleans with their two children and two crazy dogs. Prescott started writing at the age of five, and sold her first story about a talking turtle to her father for a quarter. She later turned to writing romance novels because there aren't enough happily ever afters in real life.

PL: EXCERPT QUIET ANGEL:
“I know. If you just wanted sex, I’m sure you wouldn’t have a problem finding a willing girl.”

Gage took a step towards her, and Layla stepped back against the tree trunk. The rain pattered the leaves above with a delicate rhythm, and the tree branches started to bend down, creating a little barrier between them and the rest of the island, the rest of the outside world. He caressed her face with his hand, wiping away a few wet hairs, then ran his hand under the cord of her necklace, his fingertips outlining the curve of her neck, her familiar lavender scent drawing him closer.

“My dad told me it would be a big mistake to fall in love this summer.” His fingers followed the cord and came dangerously close to the curve of her breast. “I told him it was too late.”

Layla gasped, and Gage moved in closer, taking advantage of her parted lips, kissing her gently, the warmth of his breath making her body roll. He slid his hand up to her neck and pulled her mouth to his. Their tongues moved slowly around each other -- tasting, sucking, exploring, wanting. Gage suddenly pulled back, stunned at the raw heat between them. Layla felt it, too. This wasn’t two teenagers stealing a kiss or some random make-out at a party.

“Layla, I. . . .” he started but couldn’t finish.

She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Better do that again,” she said and pulled him back to her lips.

RG: What inspires you to write about second chances?
PL: Second chances are one of the great themes in romance. Everyone can relate to needing a second chance -- either in love, work, friendship.

RG: Do you write more than one book at a time?
PL: Yes, but no one else would be able to decipher them. I have no real plan. Sometimes I start in the middle of a book. Sometimes I just have a random scene in my head. It's a jumbled mess for a long while.

RG: If you weren't a writer, what professional career would you have or want to be in? And why?
PL: I was a social worker for a long time. I worked with kids and babies. So I'd probably go back to that.

RG: If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would you pick?
PL: Christian Grey. He likes to feed women, right?

RG: If you had hidden cameras in your house, what super embarrassing things would be seen?
PL: Dancing -- lots and lots of terrible dancing. It's the only way I can clean my house or cook a meal. Gotta have music on.

RG: If you were being taken to a stranded island and could only take one book, which would you pick and why?
PL: How to survive on a deserted island, of course.

RG: What is your guilty pleasure where books are not concerned?
PL: Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!!!
Thank you for joining Rude Girl’s Couch Confessions.

SYNOPSIS

We all have that someone we can’t forget, the summer it all began, and the sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.

For Gage Montgomery, that someone is Layla Baxter. When he was 18, he took one look at the chocolate-haired bookworm with porcelain skin and knew his life would never be the same. But it all came crashing down when Layla suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from St. Simons Island -- leaving him with nothing but her angel wing pendent around his neck. For 12 long years, Gage couldn’t shake what happened, if he’s the one to blame, wondering where Layla might be. When their paths finally cross, he’s determined to get the answers he’s spent his life searching for -- and to get the girl, too. Quiet Angel is a story of hope, survival, and lost love made new again.

“I missed you, too, but you were never far.” Gage touched his shirt with the wings inside. “You were always there.”
