SYNOPSIS

Brooke
I’ve come from a privileged life and an even more privileged upbringing. My parents taught me right from wrong and everything in between… except I wanted the gray area. I wanted to live life on the edge with the possibility of falling over. I didn’t care about the consequences because I had no heart…
I left that on the floor of my parents’ bedroom door, shattered.
And never went back to pick up the pieces.

Devon
Family first.
I learned the meaning of the word hate.
I learned that life is a battlefield and I stood frontline.
I learned that praying doesn’t work and God doesn’t listen.
And I learned how to be a man…
All at the receiving end of my father’s fists, my mother’s tears, and my sisters screams.
You can’t run away from your past…
It will always find you, especially when you’re asleep.

Warning: Book contains adult situations.
Sex/language. Mature readers only.

REVIEW

Tempting Bad is a spin-off standalone from the VIP Trilogy.   In this sensual read we get both Brooke Stevens and Devon Hill's POVs. This is my first read penned by M. Robinson but certainly will not be my last!

“You have secrets.  The only reason I can tell, is from the way you’re looking at me right now.  You’re terrified I can see them.”

Devon is haunted by a past that continues to darken his daily life.  Brooke is blinded by betrayal and anger when it comes to opening up her heart to LOVE.  Can two broken people who come from two different sides of the tracks mend their broken hearts and heal each other?  They say LOVE can HEAL but is love enough to heal years of hurt and pain.

Devon was really a show stopper for me.  He carries the demons from his abusive childhood, determined to provide a wonderful life for his family and is fiercely dedicated. During his senior year of college, Devon inherits a successful nightclub and transforms it into the South Beach hot spot.  He had everything that he could every want, he had everything that he needed, except he couldn’t escape his past. He couldn’t run from the pain.

I looked in the mirror and the reflection was the same as it was when I was a child. Broken.

Brooke… oh Brooke, I have mixed feelings when it comes to this character.  I loved how she owned her sexuality BUT her daddy issues kinda drove me crazy... Brooke comes from a loving family that provided her with a dream-like childhood. She has NEVER wanted for a thing, she chose and excelled at a profession that she truly loved and she is loved even though she keeps people at arms-length.  So what is her problem??? Well I don’t want to give too much away BUT Brooke discovered that her father was living a double life, this was not a secret to her mother BUT Brooke could never move past the betrayal.

When their paths finally cross, Brooke and Devon had an immediate attraction.  Brooke being Brooke fought any real feelings and immediately turned into “Brooke the VIP”.  Devon being Devon was not about to play games.

I was the illusion.
I was the dream.
It was a game.
A game I wanted to play…
With Devon.

Without Brooke realizing, Devon began breaking down her walls. He could see past the make-up, hair and high-end lifestyle.  Devon knew that if Brooke would let go, if even just a little, they could have an amazing relationship. Their chemistry was electric but their true connection was breath taking.

The captivating twists and turns truly holding my breathe at times waiting for things to be revealed. I focused my review on Devon and Brooke's relationship but this story had several characters that all played a huge role. Author M. Robinson created a very classy and sexual world filled angst and love.  If you are looking for a real rollercoaster read, Tempting Bad is your next book!
Rating: 4 stars (Standalone; Dual POV)
